Managing Your Expo Directory

Your Expo Directory gives you easy access to other user's Expo sites.

Access other users' Expo sites via your Expo Directory.

Your Expo Directory is divided up into categories of people based on your enrollments in various courses and organizations in the system. Instructors, for example, will see the My Students category, which lists students enrolled in courses in which they are an instructor. Students, on the other hand, will see the My Instructors and My Classmates categories, which display all of their instructors and all students who are enrolled in their courses, respectively.

Expo LX users can manage the contents and layout of their Expo Directory. To do so, select the Manage My Directory link that appears in the Toolbox section of the Expo Directory sidebar.

The Manage My Directory page allows Expo LX users to manage the contents and layout of their Expo Directory.

The Manage My Directory page will allow you to do the following:

  1. Select the groups of people and other information and tools that should be displayed on your Expo Directory.
  2. Change the layout of groups on your Expo Directory.

Selecting Groups for the Directory

By default, the following groups and information can be selected for display on your Expo Directory:

  • My Classmates
  • My Instructors
  • Students I'm Teaching
  • My Friends
  • My Expo Site
  • Search People
  • Recent Sites

For any of the groups listed above, the group will only be displayed on your Expo Directory if there are any Expo LX users that fall within the group. For example, if you are a student and you select the Students I'm Teaching group for display on your directory, the group will not be displayed, unless you happen to also be teaching a course. The administrator can also create groups and make those groups available to you.

To add a new group or tool to your directory:

  1. Select the Manage My Directory link in the right sidebar of your Expo Directory.
  2. Select a group or tool from one of the Add Entry menus that appear at the bottom of the page.

To remove a group or tool from your directory:

  1. Select the Manage My Directory link in the right sidebar of your Expo Directory.
  2. Select the X button that appears at the top right corner of the group or tool you want to delete.

Managing the Layout of the Directory

Expo LX users can control the display and layout of groups and tools in their directory. This is done on the Manage My Directory page.

Every group allows users to arrange results by various criteria. For example, the My Classmates group allows Expo LX users to organize users displayed in that group by Course. To arrange the users displayed in a group:

  1. Select the Manage My Directory link in the right sidebar of your Expo Directory.
  2. Select one of the options that appear in the Arrange Results select menu for that group. Note that each group will have different options in this menu.

Expo LX users can also modify the layout of different groups and tools in their directory. To do this:

  1. Select the Manage My Directory link in the right sidebar of your Expo Directory.
  2. Use the arrow buttons that appear at the top right of each group or tool to move that group or tool around in the directory layout.

Adding and Removing Friends

In addition to adding groups of people enrolled in the same courses or organizations as you, you can add other Expo LX users to your directory as friends. To add another user as your friend:

  1. Search for a user using the Search tool that appears in the right sidebar on your Expo Directory. See the Searching for Other Expo Sites topic.
  2. Visit the user's Expo site by selecting their name in the search results.
  3. Select the Add to My Friends link that appears in the top right of the sidebar on their Expo site.

To remove a friend from your directory:

  1. Select the user's name in your Expo directory to visit their site.
  2. Select the Remove from My Friends link that appears in the top right of the sidebar on their Expo site.
