As we all know, two years ago, facebook’s purpose was for college students only. A way for them to communicate with other students about there school, classes, and any other questions they had regarding their school. Now we have all come to notice facebook is creating a social norm for people and the way they share their information. Facebook is creating these social norms, and reacting to the way people interact within them.
When facebook first came out I told all my friends I wasn’t going got sign up for it because there was no way I was going to get rid of my myspace. Myspace had so many more features then facebook had. A couple months later, I realized that no one was going to myspace anymore so I decided to create a facebook page. Once signed up for facebook I realized how fun, easy, and simple it is. For the past 2 years, checking my facebook has truly been an addiction to me that I’m currently trying to work on. But for now I absolutely love facebook and believe that it is the best communication site out there.
As for myspace, I deleted mine 2 years ago and I have not had the urge to create a new one. None of my friends have myspace anymore. They all deleted it for facebook. Pretty soon I believe that facebook will soon dominate, if it hasn’t already, over the social websites out there.
I think there should be a wiki for every group so all the members can access their own group pages. Dr. Swigger would have to create the wikis and add specific permissions to allow the members to only access their own group pages. I had this in another class at TWU and it worked nicely.
