User Guide

Filtering permits a user to sort and view blog entries, journal entries, wiki pages, and podcast episodes by a variety of criteria.  Depending on the site, this may include:

• Date
• Author
• Hidden/shown entries
• Type of entry

 

This is useful if an instructor wants to evaluate an individual's performance/participation or if a user wants to locate a specific entry, episode, page, or event quickly and easily.

 

• Filters are not available in wikis.

 

To locate an item using filters:

 

1.  Enter the site. Locate the Filter area. 

• In blogs, journals, and podcasts the Filter module is directly on the screen.
• In wikis and for another view of the Filter for blogs, journals, and podcasts, you can access the filter via the View All Recent Activity Link.

 

• In a Personal Learning Space, Course Space, or Community Space, you can access the filter with the View All Activity link in the Latest Activity module.

2.  Select the filter parameter from the appropriate drop down menu or by selecting a date on the calendar.

 

• To navigate with the calendar, click the Month buttons to move forward or backward a month or click a specific date to go directly to that date.

 

3.  The entries and episodes will automatically display by the search parameters.  To return to seeing all the entries and episodes, click All Users or exit and reenter the site.
