In addition to viewing the history of a page or entry, it is possible to actually compare the different versions (iterations) of the page or entry. This helps track which user performed which edit, as well as clarify what items have changed on a page or entry over time.

To compare different versions of a page or entry:

 

1.  From the page or entry, click the History link.

2.  There are two ways to compare page versions.

• Select the page version to view and click the View link or double click on any entry, then continue with step 3 below.
• Ctrl-click on the keyboard to select two pages and then click the Compare button.

 

 

 

3. There are two ways to navigate between page and entry versions:

• Use the Compare version to: drop down menu to select the desired version and then click Compare.
  

• Click on the Previous Version and Next Version links to navigate between versions of page or entry.

 

 

4.  If using the Previous Version and Next Version links to navigate, the screen will move forward and backward between versions.  Changes between each version will appear highlighted and deleted items appear crossed out.  If using the Compare Version feature, a split screen will appear with a side-by-side comparison between the different versions. 

 

 

• From here, it is also possible to select the type of comparison displayed on the screen. 
  • Visual: standard side-by-side comparison, including formatting
  • HTML: shows the HTML view of each page side-by-side
  • Text Only: shows a text-only view of each page side-by-side

 

 

5.  Click Go Back several times to navigate back to the wiki page or blog entry.
