Blogs vs. Discussion Boards (a.k.a - What is a Blog?)

What is a blog?
- The term blog is derived from "web log".
- The order of information in a blog is typically reverse chronological.
Consider the difference between blogs and discussion boards:
- A blog can be for many people or just one - a discussion board necessitates "discussion" and group participation for success. This is not so for a blog - can be successful based on an (or each) individuals' posts and comments just add to/enhance it as opposed to "leading" it.
- Discussion boards are always used to achieve a group goal and share information, while a blog can be used for personal reflection and stating an individual's opinion.
- Discussion boards require comments/replies by others. This is the core content. In blogs, comments enhance the experience but are not always required.
